So if you've seen my Going Lighter post then you'll know that at the beginning of the year I put quite a bit of blonde into my hair. When I then got it cut shorter I decided to dye over the blonde with a light brown.
Now anyone that's had
bleached hair may now this but bleached hair doesn't hold dye very
well. So the result was that after around 2 washes I would have a
'sombre' sort of look with the ends going a lighter brown.
Then the last time I
dyed my hair I went auburn and decided that I didn't want the ends to
be lighter anymore.
So I decided to buy
some colour b4 and put that all over my hair. I've used this
technique in the past to give myself a base for dye that is fresh but
also it creates a base that is the same throughout the hair (as long
as you don't get a patchy result that is).
I've used colour b4
multiple times before either to get rid of ombre, lighten my hair or
get rid of red hair. I noticed the last few times I used it it went
quite patchy so this time I decided to actually do what the
instructions said and use a clarifying shampoo (Aussie Mega Shampoo)
before I used colour b4. This apparently does the trick as although
there were a few slightly lighter bits generally my hair wasn't
patchy at all.
This gave me a lovely
base to then dye my hair 'Warm Auburn'. I love this colour but would
love to go a little more copper next time I dye my hair but at the
moment until I get the guts to do that this is a lovely stepping
stone between brunette and ginger.
Hope you've enjoyed
this post, if you've ever used colour b4 id be interested to know
what you thought of it in the comments.
