The Mortal Instruments ǀ Film Review

About a month ago after watching Mirror Mirror I became very intrigued by Lily Collins and eager to see other films that she has been in and whilst researching what to watch I came across the trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and was hooked instantly.

To my disappointment though the film hadn't yet been released so I decided to read the books and honestly I hadn't been hooked on a series of books; to the point where all I wanted to do is read them and when I was done I wanted to start all over again, since I read Harry Potter when I was a teenager.

Having read the books when I finally got to go to the cinema to see the films I had every expectation to leave thinking “I really wish they had included this part” or “I don’t like how they translated that character onto screen”. However I actually really loved how all the characters were created I think they were perfectly cast and I really liked the adaptations that had been made to translate the book to the screen.

I am extremely excited that there is going to be a second film and can’t wait for the DVD of the first film and the sixth book to be released. Hopefully well also get the honour of seeing all six of the books brought to life on the big screen in the future and even though at the rate of one film a year I will be 27 when the last film is released I have a feeling Ill still love it and be just as excited.
